  1. Keyboard entering some sort of Windows-Key Lock Mode unintentionally

Occasionally when I'm using my PC, my computer will enter a mode in which all of my keys will have unintended actions. When in this mode, the letter "e" will open File Explorer, the letter "f" will open Feedback Hub, the letter "r" will open Run Dialog, and so on. I understand that this is the result of pressing Windows Key + (the letter) and have taken multiple steps to avoid this, however, the problem persists. The only way I've found to exit this mode is to restart my PC. I've had this problem on a personal laptop and two desktop computers, so I'm not sure the solution lies within a problem in the computer.

I've checked over and over again to make sure my Window's key isn't stuck, and it never has been. I've also remapped my Window's key to the other side of my keyboard and have found no luck. I've also disabled Sticky Keys in my computer's settings and this hasn't made a difference. All of my drivers are up to date.

Lastly, I should mention that the problem does not occur regularly. It could happen once a week or once an hour.

    Thanks for the help.

P.S. I've made this same post before, however, I didn't receive a solution and so I'm deciding to post it again.

    :)

Hi Severin, thanks for your question. I'm Graeme, a Microsoft Community expert and fellow user.

You've tried the first steps that I'd normally recommend in a case like this. The next step would be to see if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. Here are instructions on how to get into Safe Mode:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/12376/...

If the issue stops in Safe Mode, it's probably a background task or service at fault. Please let me know if this is the case.

Otherwise, try reinstalling your keyboard drivers:

Otherwise, you can try reinstalling the drivers.

    - Press Windows Key+X and choose Device Manager.

    - Find your keyboard in the list.

    - Right-click it and choose Update Driver.

    - If that doesn't work, try uninstalling it and then scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.

And lastly try the System File Checker to see if it can repair any system file issues:

    - Click Start and type cmd.

    - Right-click Command Prompt and run it as administrator.

    - Type sfc /scannow

    - Press Enter.

After these steps, if you're still experiencing the issue please let me know and I'll see what else we can try! Thanks!

    Notebook keyboard locked?

As I said in my first post, anything before logging in works. Just after I have typed in the password, it locks up.

External keyboard had no effect. Dunno in Safe Mode, I made a syystem restore, and that worked...
