Windows 10: KEYBOARD ISSUE - LANGUAGE CHANGE - UNABLE TO USE SHIFT+2 TO CREATE SYMBOL @ - RUSSIAN KEYBOARD

Good day,I have an issue going on with my windows kayboard. Before, I was able to write @ just using Left Shift + 2. In another laptop I just use AltGr+2 Here, I add a link to the Russian Mnemonic Keyboard and it is clearly seen that there the symbol @ is nonexistent, and in it's place is just the symbol ".Also, there is no Num-Pad in the first laptop. Is there any way to change the configuration or to change manually somehow the disposition of the @ symbol?Also, I don't want to have to change languages in my laptop each time I have to write an email.Thank you very much for your attention

Use English Keyboard Layout, but output Russian Language.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

1. If you are using an external (English) keyboard, then you can go to
   Settings > Time & Language > Language > Click on
   Add a language.
   
2. Then, search for Russian language under
   Preferred languages, and then select Options.
   
3. Select Download from the Download language pack option.
   
4. After the language pack is installed, go back and choose a language from the
   Windows display language menu.
   
5. Restart the computer once for the changes to take effect.

The above steps will change the system language to Russian and you can use the external keyboard to type the Russian language from English keyboard.



I've tried replicating the same thing on a Touch Keyboard and using
On-Screen Keyboard, but we cannot change these settings for a Touch Keyboard or an On-Screen Keyboard. If you want to make these changes to Touch Keyboard or an On-Screen Keyboard, then I suggest you to post your feedback in

resetting keyboard symbols

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to remove English UK and just have the default English US under keyboard input language and check.

Step 1:To keep English US as the default input language and to remove other installed services

a. Type Settings in the search bar and click on the setting symbol on the top right.

b. Click on Time and Languages.

c. Click on Region and Languages.

d. Under the languages tab.

e. Click and Change the language to English US.

Step 2:Use on screen keyboard to type the characters (@, “)

To use on-screen keyboard, follow the steps below.

a. Click on Start; type “On-screen” without quotes and hit Enter.

b. Now check if you’re able to get right characters.

Touch Pad and Keyboard language change

Answer 1:

This issue may occur when scrolling options are configured in a different manner. Please follow the below steps to modify the scrolling options.

• 
  Open the Start menu, type Settings in the search bar and click on Settings.
  
• 
  Click on Devices, select
  Mouse and Touchpad on the left navigation pane under the Devices settings window.
  
• 
  Change the configuration settings for touchpad features under
  Touchpad.

Note: Please reply us the particular app which you want to switch the language. The language switching functionality depends on the app whether it is supported or
not.

To switch the languages in Windows 10 you should download the language pack to use it. Follow the below steps to add language pack.

Step 1:

  Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to open Settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Time and language in settings window.
  
• 
  Click on Region and language from left navigation pane.
  
• 
  Click on Add a language (+ symbol)
  
• 
  Select Russian language pack.
  (You can download any language packs. As example I suggested to download Russian language pack)

  Now, click on Russian language pack and click on
  Set a default button under the Region and language from left navigation pane.
  

Step 2:

• 
  Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Type Language in the search bar located at the top right corner of Control panel and click on language.
  
• 
  Click on the Russian language pack on the Language window.
  
• 
  Click on Download and install language pack button under
  Russian language pack.
  
• 
  Enter the administrator password if prompted.
  
• 
  Click on Save button.
