Windows 10: Keyboard keys needing several taps to register

my a and w keys barely work anymore, like I have to tap w and a 5 times each for either of them to register. same when im holding them down. I have pulled the keys out and cleaned them and whats underneath and I have blown keyboard down with a cold hairdryer but nothing is working. do I need to get a new keyboard or is there a way to fix this? got the keyboard like a year ago and its not a very cheap one

  Did you make any software or hardware changes on your computer prior to this issue?
  
  
  

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

• 
  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)
  
• 
  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Switch layout via screen keyboard in one tap

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Could you please help me with the below questions:

• Which version of Windows you are using?
• Which is the default keyboard language you use?
  

You can follow these steps to switch between the keyboard layouts:

1. Tap on the Windows key on your keyboard, search for control panel.
   
2. Tap on Languages > on the left pane, select Advance settings.
   
3. Tap on ‘Change language bar hot keys’ under switching input methods.
   
4. Go to the second tap: Advance key settings.
   
5. Select the language To English > click on Change key sequence.
   
6. Check the box: Enable key sequence.
   
7. Select the shortcut keys you would like to use under the drop down menu along with the key and click on Ok.
   
8. Click on apply and Ok.
9. Restart the PC and try the shortcut keys now.
   

This should change the keyboard layout language with the shortcut keys we have setup.
