Windows 10: Keyboard layout is syncing across devices as accounts linked to Microsoft Account

Hi,


I have two devices:


1. Dell Inspiron 7566 - UK layout keyboard

2. Surface Go - US layout keyboard


The Surface Go is my latest device, after I bought it I linked both my system administrator user accounts to my Microsoft account. Whenever I delete the US keyboard from the Dell device and set it with only UK keyboard the same happens on my Go. I suspect it is due to the link to the Microsoft account. Is there any way to resolve this? As it stands the change in keyboard layout messes up my typing experience as the keys respond differently.


If there is any way to resolve this, please do tell. Keep in mind I still need the link to Microsoft account in both devices.

Otherwise if it need a later windows update please reply to this thread when it is out.

switching keyboard layouts between devices

I recently bought a surface book on a holiday to USA and it has a US keyboard layout. When I set this device to use the US keyboard layout it switched all of the other devices on my account to suit. How can I set the surface book to a US keyboard Layout
but keep my desktop, laptop and tablet on the UK keyboard layout (which is the keyboard layout they all use) but still all attached to the my Microsoft account?

Step by step instructions would be appreciated for an idiot.

Microsoft Account not syncing WP8.1

Hi Michael,

We suggest that you manually sync your Microsoft account by following these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Tap email + accounts.
• Tap and hold your Microsoft account.
• Tap sync.

Check also if you have the correct date and time set on your phone.

Not sure what else to suggest but since you mentioned it, try variations of the sync settings on your W8.1 phone. It is just possible that this is causing some confusion with your Microsoft account and the W10 settings.
