Windows 10: Keyboard not recognized+ driver update error with keyboard class filter driver.

Using on-screen keyboard so please don't mind grammar. One day my keyboard stopped working so I followed instructions and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and now Its not working but connected. It shows an error message when trying to update the driver. It also says something about keyboard class filter driver. Using the Vulcan II max by the way. I used the software driver update and it says its good and up to date and then I check my device manager and it says unknown device and still failing to update. There are so many drivers, I don't know what to download and I doubt it'll work. N

What is the "Surface - Keyboard 1.0.104.0" Driver?

Running v1909 on the first system in my specs.
Keyboard: Microsoft KC-0405 - wired.

Windows Update is nagging me to install the Surface - Keyboard 1.0.104.0 Driver.
Now I checked and this driver seems to be for a wireless keyboard filter, but I could be wrong.

I went into Device Manager and selected my wired keyboard and updated the driver from there.
This changed the device from "Keyboard" to "Wireless Keyboard Device Filter".
On restart there was an unknown device listed with the yellow bang and it was the wireless keyboard device filter.
Did a restore point and everything back to normal.

I used the Windows Update hide-show troubleshooter to try and hide the update. Didn't work. The update persists.

Looking for thoughts on what this driver is, and why Windows is offering a driver for a device I do not have.

Please follow the steps below to run hardware and device troubleshooter.

  Press Windows + X key.

  From the jump menu select Control Panel.

  On the Top right click on view by and select
  large icons.
  
• 
  Go to troubleshooting.
  
• 
  On the Left panel click View all items.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Devices and follow the on screen instructions.
  

If issue persist, I suggest to follow method 2.



Method 2: Update keyboard drivers.

  Press Windows + R key.
  
• 
  In the pop up window type devmgmt.msc
  
• 
  From the window right click Keyboards.
  
• 
  From the jump menu select Update the driver software.
  
• 
  Follow the ongoing instructions.
  

If issue persist, I suggest you to connect an external keyboard and check if the same issue persist.

Keyboard driver?

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately, neither solution suggested in the response was effective in remedying the problem. Anyone else have a solution?
