Windows 10: Keyboard not recognized when using dock

I've been consistently having an issue dealing with using my Surface Studio laptop and using external keyboards with a docking station. When I connect to a dock I have my studio laptop will not accept any external keyboard inputs and I have to restart my device for it to register external inputs. I have run the device troubleshooter and I can even see the device under the "Bluetooth & devices" tab in settings. This problem has consistently happened on both my home surface dock and the universal dock I have at work. If anyone has a solution that doesnt require me restarting my computer eve

Keyboard and Mouse not working with Surface Dock and Windows 10

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 I on my Surface Pro 3 with a Surface Docking station. My Microsoft Sculpt mouse and Ergo Keyboard pair has a dongle that is connected to the ports in the dock. The computer will not recognize the mouse and keyboard.
When I move the dongle directly to the Surface USB port, they are both recognized. This issue did not happen with Windows 8.1.

I have tried deleting the drivers as well as the Mouse and Keyboard center and it did not work. Any suggestions?

Dock function in the On-Screen Keyboard.

Thank you for posting you query on Microsoft Community Forums.

The dock option in on-screen keyboard is by design and it is enabled only when you use a touch enabled computer. The dock option works similar to a window which maximizes and you cannot move the particular window around.



When you click on dock option, it switch the on-screen keyboard from fixed to the bottom of the screen with full screen mode.

I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check.



Method 1:

Try to run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption.
SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

• Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
• In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
  
  sfc /scannow

If the issue still exists, try the next method.



Method 2:

You may check the same issue with the new user account.

Try these steps to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

• Go to Settings.
• Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.
• Select Add an Account.
• Enter a user name and hit Next.
• Click on Finish.
• Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
• Check if issue persists.
