Windows 10: Keyboard power button disabling

I need a clarification:My desktop's mechanical keyboard has the classic dangerous "power" button, which after X PCs the last 35 years I pressed for the 1st time in my life accidentally 2 times the last days, resulting in annoyance the 1st time and work loss the 2nd. Trying to find a solution on my own via Win power options and bios, I found that it's not clarified enough if they disable the pc case button or the keyboard button which I want to disable or both. Because the power case button has a contact is

You can press ESC on your keyboard several times to disable the idle screen should you press the power button accidentally. One of the ways to disable the option to turn off your computer using the power button on your keyboard
is changing its settings in the Control Panel. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Right-click the Start button then select Control Panel.
• On the drop-down menu, select Small category.
• Click on the Power Options link.
• On the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do.
• On both drop-down menus, select Do nothing then click on the
  Save changes button.

How to disable keyboard's Power button in Windows 10?


Hi there,

I have a simple, generic keyboard that has Power / Sleep / Wake Up buttons right above Print Screen / Scroll Lock / Pause.

I want to disable them because I always shut down my computer accidentally and lose all my work.

All solutions I found are for windows 7 and are about tweaking in the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings, where I can edit Advanced Power Settings.

However, that's the wrong thing to do because the "Power button and lid" section is not only for keyboard, it disables the computer case buttons as well which I normally use to shut down the PC.

Can you help me how can I disable those keyboard buttons in Win10?

• Open the Keyboard control panel item by typing keyboard into Start Menu.
• Click the Hardware tab, and then click Properties.
• Click the Change Settings button
  
  Note: This step requires Administrator access
• Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the Allow this device to wake the computer is enabled.
• Click OK, and then click OK again.
