    Keyboard problem & Random pop up: "Task Manager" and "Taskbar Settings"


    I AM GOING CRAZY!!!!! A popup showing the "Task Manager" and "Taskbar Settings" appears randomly at the bottom of my screen, and it locks out the keyboard! I will be typing and then the pop up occurs, then I'll "fix" it I have to physically click on the screen to disable it, or sometimes ESC will work, and then not even 10 seconds afterward, the pop up will come again. Please see attached photo. Then I do a cold start restart didn't seem to help it the first couple of times I tried it. Some days I need to do many cold starts. It is so frustrating! I'll be typing and then the win

    No restart button in task manager

    another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

    Cannot modify Task Bar settings

    Hi,

    I understand your concern and will be happy to assist you.

    I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

    • Right click on the Task Bar.
    • Uncheck the option " Lock the Taskbar."

    Task Manager Locks USB Drives

    Hi LuizScruz,

    Thank your for the quick response.

    I can rule out that the problem relates in an way to Windows Explorer. There is no foreground instance of WE running, and there are no other processes accessing files on the drive as well. Even shutting down WE via the task manager does not release the device. Only closing the task manager helps.

    I may reproduce the problem by the following steps:

    1. Insert the memory stick (i. e. USB drive) into the USB port.
    2. Start the task manager.
    3. Try to eject the drive safely. The error message pops up.
    4. Close task manager.
    5. Try to eject the drive safely again. The device is released instantly.
    Interestingly, you must not reverse steps 1 and 2 to reproduce the error.

    I suspect that the problem relates to task manager's monitoring of disk activities.
