Windows 10: Keyboard randomly repeats keys

Good morning,At random when I am typing my keyboard will randomly repeat letters that I am typing. It happens without any reason in any program and is not consistently the same key. A few pieces of information:1. The laptop is a new refurb from Dell. 2. I had a Logitech K270 keyboard that I used with my laptop for my last job that had no issues. I went to repurpose that keyboard for this new PC and started noticing the issue.3. I have since purchased a brand new Logitech MK270 and it happened within minutes of using it.4. I have tried to update keyboard drivers but I'm told they're upd

Keyboard repeat delay and repeat speed

Hi Joseph,

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the keyboard driver. Follow the steps to uninstall & reinstall the keyboard driver from device manager.

• 
  Press Windows key + X from the
  Keyboard and click on Device Manager.
  
• 
  In Device Manager, double click on the
  Keyboard.
  
• 
  It will show you the device driver name, select that device and then right click on it.
  
• 
  Click on Uninstall button.
  
• 
  Restart the computer, the drivers will get automatically installed on your Windows 10.
  
• 
  Repeat the same for Mice and other pointing devices.

keyboard randomly repeating keystroke when plugged in

My keyboard keep randomly repeat my keystrokes. Any key could be repeated, sometimes twice, sometimes 3 times or more, no pattern at all. When I remove the keyboard and plug it in another computer, it work just fine. The built-in keyboard of the laptop also have no issue. Also, it ONLY happens when I have the laptopp plugged in to a power source. If I run it on battery power, nothing is out of place.

I've tried restarting the computer, enable filter key and changing the delay setting for the keystroke, physically removingg the battery, reinstall the keyboard driver, drain the battery completely then hold the power button for more than 30s to drain the remaining electricity before replugging and turning the thing on... but nothing work! The only way for it to work like normal is to unplug the laptop and use it on battery, which is highly disruptive to my workflow.

Could someone help please?

• OS: Windows 10 Home (64 bit)
  
• Laptop brand: ASUS
  
• Processor: Intel Core i5 -2450M CPU @2.50GHz
  
• Keyboard brand: HTC Keyboard (plugged in through an USB port)

Method 1: Run the
Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your mouse. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  

Method 2.Try updating the latest keyboard devices from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the Keyboard drivers:

a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

b. Expand the Keyboard driver.

c. Right-click on the HID Keyboard Device and click on Update driver software.

d. Restart the computer and check.
