Windows 10: Keyboard Shortcut Function key (Fn) and Insert key makes my laptop sleep?

Does the Function key (Fn) and Insert key on your keyboard make your computer sleep because I press these keys by mistake and it gets kind of out of hand. If there is a way to deactivate it please tell me. My laptop is a Dell by the way so please help me. Thanks.

Help using Insert Key functions on a laptop. Windows Narrator

I recently tried to use Windows Narrator to read some highlighted text on-screen. After looking into it, I was informed that Narrator is controlled by Windows Shortcut keys, such as pressing
Insert + G or Insert + F8 for certain functions. My problem is being on a laptop, an HP Pavilion dv5, there is no separate "Insert" key, only the
"Ins/Prt Sc" key. Pressing this alteration of the insert key does not give me the same function as I suppose the
"insert" key would on a desktop keyboard. All other forms of shortcuts work, such as pressing
"Ctrl" to stop reading or other combinations without the insert key. Is there an alteration to this method for laptop users without the "Insert" key? Pressing or holding the
"Alt" key or "fn" key does not switch the function of the insert/prt sc key for use with the shortcuts either.

Ummm, that is normal - depending on the function you are doing (assuming I understand what you are saying).

On a notebook, the Fn key is like a shift key that switches in a different set of functions for the F-Keys.

For example, in Windows pressing the F5 key typically refreshes the display. In File Explorer, it will refresh the displayed files. In a browser, it will refresh (reload) the webpage. But pressing Fn + F5 does something different, depending on your notebook. On my Toshiba notebook, if I hold down the Fn key and press F5, it switches the video output of my notebook between the notebook monitor, a connected external monitor, or both.

Exactly what I was used to do, pressing the FN key with an F key but that didn't work....
If I press the FN key I get f1 f2 f3 and so on.

It was just the other way around, but I figured it out now.*Smile
