My keyboard shortcuts have always been working fine up until yesterday. The keyboard shortcuts I mainly used was Windows Key + . to bring up the emojis and Alt + Enter to move tabs to my other monitor screen quickly and now the emojis don't pop up and trying to move the tab easily with the shortcut just doesn't do anything whatsoever. I restarted my pc and the shortcuts seemed to work for a few seconds and then just stopped working again...Some things I already tried:Restarting ComputerUninstalling Keyboard device from device manager then re installing itTroubleshooting the keyboardchanged the

  2. Keyboard shortcut stops working shortly after logging in. Also works in safe mode, but not after clean boot.

    Hey all!

    It's about Ctrl-Shift-X and Ctrl-Shift-C.

The keypresses get registered fine directly after starting the computer and logging in, but they stop working properly a couple seconds after logging on, like 10-20 seconds or so.

I used this website to diagnose keystrokes: Keyboard Event Viewer

This is what I see after logging in and when I test it on other computers:

    Dropbox

After some time, the shortcut stops working and this is what I see:

    Dropbox

As you can see, the keydown event for X does not get fired when ctrl and shift are both pressed. Just X works fine as do Shift-X and Ctrl-X. Also other combinations, like Ctrl-Shift-H work fine, but not all, like Ctrl-Shift-V does not.

I suspect that another program is starting and disabling the key combination.

    So, things I have tried:

    • I went to the task manager and deactivated all autostart programs, restart computer -> doesn't work
    • I used msconfig to disable all services except microsoft services, restart computer -> doesn't work ("clean boot", see here: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support)
    • boot in safe mode -> then it works
    • tried different keyboard -> doesn't work
    • uninstalled all usb and keyboard devices from device manager, including hidden ones -> mouse and keyboard stop working -> shut down computer via power button -> remove mouse and keyboard -> use different mouse and keyboard to make sure it's faulty hardware leading to faulty driver installed or something -> relaunch -> new mouse and keyboard work, but combination also stops working after some time

I'm at a loss as to what next steps I should take to debug this.

Is uninstalling and reinstalling windows the next step or is there more I can do to diagnose this?

    Thanks for your help.

Keyboard shortcuts not working from external keyboard

I use an external mechanical keyboard, connected via USB.

Recently some keyboard shortcuts stopped working, but they used to work.

    • Windows + Tab
    • Windows+ V
    • Alt + Tab
    • Ctrl + Alt + Del

Other shortcuts such as Ctrl + P still work.

Anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this?
