Windows 10: Keyboard typing rubbish

Hello,


i updated my second laptop to 1809 some time ago and after that it would not select my password and because it uses the same password and login details as my main laptop I don’t want to change the password. So I put it away in disgust and decided to get it out yesterday and try again by using the on board keyboard that you can get on the login screen. Once in, I noticed that the keys I was pressing was not typing the same hence that was the reason my password at login was telling me it was incorrect every try. So I think after the update it was changed from the qwerty keyboard to the other one and now I want to change it back to the qwerty one so that I can use the proper keyboard and upgrade it from 1809 to 1903 and the when available 1909. So would someone be kind enough to send me some easy laymans instructions on how to change it back to the qwerty one unless it is some other problem.

How do I change the default keyboard from handwriting to typing on Windows 10

Step 1: Turn off on screen keyboard

• Open Start menu, type Settings in search bar and click on Settings.
• Click on Ease of access and select keyboard.
• Turn off the on screen keyboard.

Step 2: Turn off tablet mode

I suggest you to turn off tablet mode, as it may also be the cause for the issue.

• Open Start menu, type tablet mode settings in search bar and click on it.
• Turn off the tablet mode option and check if it helps.

Issue with typing using keyboard

I would suggest you to connect an external keyboard and check if the issue persists or not.
