Windows 10: keyboard won't type specific key

So i've had this laptop for about five or six years? don't remember, but it's in good condition. About two and a half years ago my 'T' key won't always process so it won't type. Right now obviously it's typing, but at times it can go for tens of minutes without being able to type and process the letter. The minute i noticed this we, my family and i, called to submit a work order but my protection had 'just run out' the day that we called them, so now i've been living with a laptop i need for school for years that can't really function. I have a surface laptop 3

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)
  
• 
  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

I understand the * key has stopped working;

Are you using a laptop or a desktop?

Do you remember changing the keyboard layout?

When did this problem start?

Is your keyboard a specific model?

Before answering the above questions I suggest you try the following;

Right-click on the start menu and go to Device Manager;

Click (>) Keyboards to expand the section;

Right-click on the first keyboard device and select Uninstall device;

Repeat the process on all devices listed in the section (>) Keyboards;

Then restart the PC;

Check if the key works again;
