Windows 10: Keys on laptop don’t work - 5, 6, Esc, and increase volume.

I see others have the same or similar issue, but haven’t found a solution that works. I’ve updated the keyboard driver, uninstalled updates, uninstalled and reinstalled Windows, all to no avail. I know it isn’t a physical issue with the keys, because on occasion, for a day or so, the 5 and 6 keys will work in certain programs, then stop working again. Would be great full for your suggestions and insight into the root of the problem. Thanks you.

Intermittent issue can be still related to hardware issue. At this point, it is unclear. Any chance you can try an external keyboard to help narrow it down?

When you said it didn't work, did these keys input different content, or they just didn't input anything when pressed? If they input different content, please make sure you have your input keyboard(lower right on system tray) set to what you prefer.

Otherwise one more thing to try is to update/install the latest BOS, which you can find from your computer's manufacture support site for your model. I suggest you try the above two before you go this route.

 

Keyboard Volume Keys not working while in-game

I happen to have used the Tt Challenger Pro keyboard in the past, and the volume keys worked flawlessly in every game, so it's indeed a weird problem. I would suggest the same thing sneekypeet suggested, using the keyboard software and assign this function to a hotkey, but you said that didn't work either, so yeah...
