Windows 10: Keys only working after pressing a long time

Hiya Community,


Since a few days ago some of my keys on my Laptop suddenly stopped working keys: 2, u, -, Numpad 3. I can get them back to work for a while if I long press one of them one can activate the others again. It's pretty random when they work. Since it's not only one key that has problems I still have hope it's not a mechanical issue with the keyboard.


I tried to update Windows with sadly no luck.

The other day I also reinstalled Windows completely and did a full update of the system, hoping it would fix the problem. I thought at first the problem is solved but now two days later the same problem came up again.


My Laptop is a Medion Erazer X7613. Specs are down below.

Booting without press any key

@dhievm go ahead and list the model number that gives exact specs/info.


Does it stop right at the Toshiba logo and sit there? Will it sit forever til you press a key, or will it eventually work after so long?

 

Long press problem

Hello, here asking help again..

I bought a new keyboard yesterday and was gonna test on a computer and then I tried games on it but suddenly when i long press W (the forward movement key) it just stops for a moment . Like Long pressing a key makes it lag. I opened up notepad and tested
the keyboard out.

It stops the long press for a moment and continues repeatedly.

I tried an old keyboard and it works very fine.

I tried connecting the new keyboard to my laptop and surprisingly, there's no problem about it.

Long press works, Gaming works..

Any feedback and suggestions will be appreciated.

There are several factors why you are unable to use the shortcut keys function such as keyboard settings, or if there is an issue with the keyboard itself. To help you resolve this, kindly try the following suggestions:

• You might have selected an input language other than English. To work around with this, go to
  Control Panel > Region and Language and check. You can also check if your keyboard has a language selection available that may need to be changed.
• We suggest as well that you reset the keyboard layout by reinstalling the language and check if it fixes the issue. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows+R keys and type intl.cpl. Hit Enter.
  
• Go to Administrative tab and click on
  Change system locale button.
• Select the correct language and country from the drop-down box.
• Navigate to the location tab and check if region settings are appropriate.
• Apply the changes and Windows will require a reboot.
