Windows 10: Keys Sticking When Gaming

Discus and support Keys Sticking When Gaming in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; All, I've exhausted all efforts to figure out why my keys get stuck while gaming.     Keys Sticking When Gaming


    All,

    I've exhausted all efforts to figure out why my keys get stuck while gaming. It's very sporadic but if I'm playing a game and using the WASD keys or ctrl or shift they key will stay in a stuck position until I hit that key again. No other key press ends the one being stuck, it has to be the key that is stuck.

    Current steps already taken:

    1.Ensured sticky keys are turned off


    1. Checked device manager to ensure "Turn this device off to save power" is unchecked.


    2. Tried 3 different keyboards, 2 of which are different brands


    3. Updated BIOS


    4. Completely wiped the PC and re-installed Win10 pro.

    Persistent Filter keys problem in Windows 10

    Hi,

    Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community.

    • Is the issue specific while playing that game?
    • Which game has that issue?

    If the keys stick only while you play that particular game, then as a troubleshooting step I would request you to re-install the game and then check if it helps.

    Please revert if you face any issues with Windows in future.

    Arrow Keys and Spacebar Not Working in Games

    Please answer the below questions:

    • Are the arrow keys and spacebar key working fine other than online and steam games?
    • Did you make any recent hardware/software changes prior to this issue?
    • Do you face this issue in all online games and steam games?
    • Have you checked if there are settings to change the controls in the game?

    You may try the hardware troubleshooter and check if this helps.

    The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.

    Follow these steps:

    • Press Windows key to get the Start menu.
    • Type Troubleshooting.
    • Click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
    • Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
    • Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

    SOLITARE CARD GAME

    We understand how annoying it could be when the Solitaire card game is getting timed out.
    In this scenario, we would suggest you to reset the Solitaire game from Apps and feature.



    Steps to reset the Solitaire app.

    1. Press Windows + I key from the keyboard to launch
      Windows Settings.
    2. Select Apps. Click on
      Apps & feature from the left pane.
    3. Search and select Solitaire app and click on
      Advanced options.
    4. Click on Reset and follow the onscreen steps.
