  1. keystroke(s) to enter BIOS/Boot Manager

    Hi
thanks for the reply. I cannot boot from USB, or any external media, because Win10 informs me that I must change boot order in Windows Boot Manager. Clicking Windows Boot Manager just starts the OS. I cannot access BIOS or UEFI settings.

Has anyone encountered this issue or am I a total n00b?

Just a thought, do you have Windows to go startup options (search for that text)?

If so try setting it to Yes - it should force a boot from USB. It doesn't have to be Windows to go - it will boot any connected bootable USB next time you restart. You have a secure boot option I see - you may have to turn that off...

I don't think this is a Pro only feature (here seems to say not) but not having home I can't test it.

I have a linx 8. The error message is a bit misleading. It does not work in conventional way ie you do not actually set a boot order. You have to specifically select an option to boot from usb device, and then you boot from it immediately.

You have to have usb device connected to tablet via an otg cable before you switch on tablet. Then when you hit the boot manager button, you get a third option besides windows boot manager and efi internal shell ie EFI usb device.

When you select that, it will boot from usb device.

There is an excellent forum run by enthusiasts with no links to Linx.

Home LinxTablet.co.uk - The Unofficial Forum For Linx Tablets.

Before you mess around with your device, can you tell me why you are booting from usb drive?

It is very important to have a windows 8.1 recovery drive created before you uograde to windows 10 if that is what you want to do, as the Linx uses a special version of 8.1 ie 8.1+Bing which is not available to public (however you can get an image from the forum link above for the linx8 if necessary).
