Windows 10: Kindle App Crashing: "Untested Windows version 10.0 detected" ? What is going on?

When switching my laptop from reading mode reversible 360 degree type of laptop back to regular, Kindle crashes and the following error message flashes quickly:


"Qt: Untested Windows version 10.0 detected!

C:\Users\elena\AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle/crashDump\0143adbb-16f8-4ba6-9846-9908be7baa88.dmp"


What is going on? Has anyone else had this issue and how did they fix it?


My computer details: Lenovo Yoga 720 laptop, running Windows 10 Home, OS Build 19041.572

Kindle App and Windows 10

• Is this issue confined only with kindle app?
• Are you able to read the notebooks in other apps?

qubit kills his Windows 10 with a Kindle

I read that article below on killing the Anniversary Update edition of Windows 10 and just had to try it.

Plugged my Kindle Voyage into a USB 2.0 port and nothing happened - Windows just treated it as a normal USB drive, like always. Tried a couple of times, all good. Plugged it into a USB 3.0 port and it wasn't even recognized. Windows kept going like nothing happened.

Plugged it back into a USB 2.0 port and bam! Down she goes. *Laugh :laugh:

Unplugged the Kindle, reset the PC and Windows started up fine.

Anyone have a Kindle or use Kindle App in Windows 10?

I think you are correct. Also if my memory is correct, books not stored locally on the tablet have a little cloud icon.

Amazon keeps a copy of your purchased book in their own "cloud" and you can re-download the book to authorized devices and software as many times as you need to without violating their terms of use agreement. Amazon also allows you to have several different devices the book can be on at the same time - you can run the Kindle app in Windows, a Kindle app on an Android device, and a true Kindle e-reader, all with the same book on it. However, you might have to go into device management on Amazon's website and clear out old devices if, for example, you reload Windows and the Kindle App and it gets detected as a new device.
