Windows 10: Kinect V2 unstable with newer Etron USB 3.0 drivers provided by Microsoft. How to rollback?

Lately Microsoft has been adding quite a few new Etron USB 3.0 drivers, I've seen like 3 in Aug and July. Though with Kinect they have unstable for me. Never allowing Kinect to get an FPS above 25 unlike previously or stay stable at all.

When I install the "Kinect Runtime Dev", it makes causes KinectService.exe to restart every few seconds. It does so even if Kinect is not connected at all.

In 3DScan I cannot use my Kinect V2 as it gives "Can't find depth sensor"

My PC is a surface Book (original model) which has USB 3 ports.

My problem is that there are no longer any drivers available via Windows Update. The only way to get a driver is to install the Kinect SDK.

Once the Kinect SDK v2 is installed, the Kinect studio works which suggests the hardware is ok.

My real issue is there is another thread on this forum from earlier 2017 which says to get rid of the error message in 3D Scan I need a newer v2.2 driver instead of the v2.0 driver. This will then fix 3D Scan AND allow Windows Hello to see the Kinect.

The thread gives instructions to get the updated driver (use Device Manager and "Update Driver" option) but this newer driver is no longer available by this method.

Searching the internet I can find no links to manually download this newer driver but clearly this is what I need so WHERE do I get it?

Given that my Kinect is still under warranty I cannot believe that Microsoft have just removed the required driver!

 

Kinect v1/v2 in Windows 10 (and then Matlab)

Hi Everyone, I know it's been asked a lot of times but I can't get a clear answer so I try to ask again:

1. Is Kinect v1 compatible with Windows 10? If yes, should I buy a particular usb connector? which are the drivers to donwload?

2. Is Kinect v2 compatible with Windows 10?

My final goal is to use Kinect with Matlab (2015 or whatever works).

No scan option for 3D builder in Windows 10 with Kinect v2

I did a clean install of Windows 10, installed Kinect v2 drivers and SDK. The SDK can see the sensor fine but when I installed 3D builder it doesn't show a "scan" button. It just has "load" and "help" buttons. I'm using the Kinect pc adapter with a console
version of the Kinect v2 if that is important. Please help me get 3D builder working with my sensor. Thank you.
