  1. Known Folder event id 1002 error 0x80070002 for folders that should not be known

After the last update to 23H2 I have been getting around 35 "Known Folder" event ids that make no sense. They group into 3 areas:1. Folders that were moved with File Explorer: I moved all 10 folders from C:\Users\Me to D:\Users\Me so that the user data was kept in a different partition that the operating system. This was done with the Location tab under File Explorer. The system is just fine with where the user data is kept. These are: C:\Users\Me\Contacts, ...\Desktop, ...\Documents, ...\Downloads, ...\Favorites, ...\Links, ...\Music, ...\Pictures, ...\Saved Games, ...\V

Windows 10 - Still Warnings 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder Event ID 1002

On a clean fresh build with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (I relocated using the way Microsoft wanted the path for documents and downloads) - where the system has no errors from chkdsk or sfc or device manager showing

I get the warnings Windows 10 - Event ID 1002

Error 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder {f42ee2d3-909f-4907-8871-4c22fc0bf756} with path 'C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Documents'.

Error 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder {b4bfcc3a-db2c-424c-b029-7fe99a87c641} with path 'C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop'.

Error 0x80070003 occurred while verifying known folder {625b53c3-ab48-4ec1-ba1f-a1ef4146fc19} with path 'C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu'.

    etc

Solution was shown in for Windows 7

'Known folders' errors in event viewer and copied here

    by Profile

    How to fix the
System systemprofile issue... so here's the (new) lowdown:

    • Take a quick look in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile.
    Nothing special there, right?

re Roaming, there's an empty folder trail - C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows

    • Compare this with C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows ...
    Start Menu, SendTo, NetworkShortcuts ...

    • (Optional) Backup
The "System Profile" SID registry key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-18

    The Default Folder - C:\Users\Default

    • Change the 'System ProfileImagePath' - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-18
    from %systemroot%\system32\config\systemprofile

    to C:\Users\Default

    • Reboot, check for events...
    Solved?

@MiCrOsOfT - Given that this is FAULTY Configuration by you - when will the hotfix be available. The issue has been in existence for several years and a solution proposed by a user and NO COMMENT from you. Is this solution good for Windows 10?

What else will it break as there are several other folders located in the area where changing this location will cause an issue.

Do you have to copy the files/folders to the default user location?

Windows 10 - Still Warnings 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder Event ID 1002

Having looked at PROCMON during a reboot, and checking the event log times to errors and information in the PROCMON logs, it appears that the issue is that SearchIndexer is using the wrong registry key to identify some known folders!

If this is correct then this will be happening on most if not all Windows 7 and later installations......

  4. Known Folder event id 1002 error 0x80070002 for folders that should not be known

I get Event 1000 "Known Folders" errors every 15 minutes!

I use Win7x64. These are the errors:

    • Error 0x80070005 occurred while creating known folder {625b53c3-ab48-4ec1-ba1f-a1ef4146fc19} with path 'C:\Users\Derek\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu'.

The last one is repeated twice because it occurs twice every time this happens. All are Event 1000 errors.

I don't know what is causing this problem. Please help!
