Windows 10: Kobo Touch and Windows 10 Home Edition

Tried to connect my kobo touch to my pc and it shows up as usb drive f however when I try to access it I am unable as it says this sector cannot be accessed. I have used multiple cable including the one from my kobo aura and nothing. Its charged and it works but I can't access it. When I go an look via the devices tab it says something about it not registering. WHY CAN'T I GET THIS TO WORK???? My aura works. I have reinstalled the kobo app, updated the kobo touch all to no avail. I have read all the threads without luck and I can't use the back usb as I only have a laptop

windows 10 does not recognize my Kobo ereader

Same here. Windows 10 does not recognize my Kobo Aura One.

But on my other PC with Windows 7 the Kobo Aura One is recognized properly.

Some information on the Win 10 rig that causes the trouble:

• Surface Book, 16GB
• Win10 Pro, 64 bit, Version 1607
• Kobo Aura One, Software version 4.2.8110
• Kobo Desktop 4.2.6122

Here's what I have tried so far:

• Factory reset of the Kobo device
• Tried various different USB cables in various ports
• Installed the Kobo desktop app
• Searched for the most recent updates/patch for the Kobo device and installed them
• Searched for the most recent updates/patch/drivers for my Win10 rig and installed them
• I have tried the steps suggested by Mario Tum (Dec 26)
• Asked Kobo customer support for help (they asked me to try some default stuff like re-plugging in the USB cable, but no real help so far; they told me they have passed the issue to 'someone else' within Kobo - whatever that means)

Nothing resolved the issue. Since my Win7 rig recognizes my Kobo Aura One without any problems, I guess the problem lies with Win10.

 

Windows 10 and KOBO Touch

My versioin of Windows 10 does not now recognize my KOBO Touch. It recognized it a month ago but there have been Windows 10 updates since then. So - - -

Kobo NOT recognized on laptop running Windows 10 PRO, V 10.0.14393 Hardware Abstraction Layer 10.0.14349.0)

However, my:

KOBO is recognized on a laptop running Windows Home, V. 10.o.14393 Build 14393 Hardware Abstraction Layer 10.0.14393.206

KOBO is recognized on a laptop running Windows Home, V 10.0.10586 Build 10586

KOBO is recognized on a laptop running Windows 7.

The only differences I can see between the four laptops is.

1. Mine was upgraded from Windows 7 PRO to Windows 10 PRO while the other two came with Windows 10 HOME when new.

2. Where two Versions are the same i.e. 10.0.14393, My Hardware abstraction layer is ---.0 vs ---.206 for the laptop that works OK.

3. My Windows 10 is "PRO" whereas the other two Windows 10 are "HOME"

4. the windows 7 laptop is a completely different operating system.

Is there something missing from my Version of Windows 10 PRO with the Version 10.0.14393 and Hardware Abstraction Layer 10.0.14393.0?

Windows 10 and KOBO Touch

The problem seems to me to clearly be with Windows upgrade 10.0.14393. I've been working with three Kobo eReaders and four laptop computers (all from friends). I just took one laptop that wasn't recognizing a Kobo and restored it to an earlier version
of Windows 10, namely 10.0.10586. The Kobo is now recognized.

I see from many posts since 2015 that there seems to have been an ongoing problem with Windows 10 and Kobo. Since the Kobo works on Windows 7 equipment, and works on earlier versions of Windows 10, I must conclude the problem lies with recent Windows
10 upgrades. I look forward to Microsoft resolving this ongoing situation.
