Windows 10: Lag spike on Ethernet cable after Windows 10 update

I'm quite a procrastinator when it comes to powering off my computer to update and instead I just send it to sleep, so when I finally updated I noticed a horrendous lag spike, which makes work and especially gaming unbearable. It works "fine" for 10 seconds, then the connection gets interrupted for a brief moment. When I hover my cursor over the internet icon in the taskbar is says "Identifying...". There is no problem whatsoever when I use wifi on my phone or laptop. Besides, I tested it on my laptop, weird lag spike connection on ethernet cable confirmed after updating the system.

Game lags on ethernet

Hello,

I have internet lags when online gaming but only when using ethernet cable however my ping is stable!! What happens exactly is that the ping of the game server is 90-95 which is stable even when I use ethernet cable but for some reason the game lags badly
when ethernet cable is connected when I connect to normal wifi the game runs with no lags but my laptop is old and doesn't support 5g routers so even when if the game server ping is 90-95 there is router spikes

I don't know what to do I mean why the game lags on ethernet even when the game server ping is 90ms and the cable ping is 1ms but on wifi there is no lags

I will appreciate the help

 

Frequent lag spikes on wifi connectivity

I was recently forced to switch from ethernet cable to a wifi connection.

At ethernet connection i had no issue of ping spikes but now in wifi im experiencing frequent lag spikes from 100ms-300ms.

I have already tried resetting the TCP/IP, disabling auto turn off of WiFi device, reconfiguring TCP/IP, disabling wlan autoconfig but to still no solution has come up to my problem.

• What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
• Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.
