LAN Ethernet stopped working on DELL XPS 15 9560 after connecting with the Dock – WD19DCS

I have a DELL XPS 15 9560 and after connecting with the Dell Performance Dock – WD19DCS, LAN Ethernet stopped working either through dock or Gigabit USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter. Before this event it has worked pretty fine. I tried ethernet adapter in all USB ports of my Dell but does not work. I tried the Ethernet Adapter in another Laptop it works fine. I do not use Dock – WD19DCS, it was just a try, I want to continue using Gigabit USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter and trying to fix it because my working post is far from the router and it can not deliver enough Wi-Fi signal.I tried to figure it out in g

  2. Dell Xps 15 9560 BSOD when unplugging from WD15 Dock, error System_thread_exception_not_handled, failed: usbxhci.sys

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand the BSOD issue you're experiencing when unplugging your Dell XPS 15 9560 from the WD15 Dock. The error "System_thread_exception_not_handled" and the file "usbxhci.sys" that failed indicate that the issue is related to the USB 3.0 driver.

Here are some suggestions that you might find helpful:

    1. Update Your Dock Firmware: Dell regularly releases firmware updates for their docks. Visit the Dell Support website, enter your service tag or product ID, and check if there's a firmware update available for your WD15 Dock.
    2. Update USB 3.0 Drivers: Visit the Dell Support website and update the USB 3.0 drivers for your Dell XPS 15 9560.
    3. Update BIOS: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your Dell XPS 15 9560. BIOS updates can often resolve hardware compatibility issues.
    4. Disable Power Management of the USB Root Hub: Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) > Properties > Power Management, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
    5. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates.
    6. Contact Dell Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it would be best to contact Dell Support for further assistance. They might have more specific troubleshooting steps for your particular model.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

  3. Connect a Dell XPS Windows laptop to Ethernet via a generic docking station

I have a generic docking station for laptops. It connects to the laptop with a USB 3.0 connection, and supplies several USB connections plus an Ethernet connection.

When I connected it to a two-years-old laptop -- HP+Ubuntu -- it worked great - I could use Ethernet, mouse, keyboard and printer simultaneously.

Now, I connected it to a new laptop -- Dell XPS 9570 + Windows 10 Pro; all connections I tested work fine (mouse, keyboard and printer) but the ethernet connection is not working - I cannot connect my laptop to ethernet.

Is there something I should do with my laptop so that I can connect it to ethernet via the docking station? Maybe install some driver or change some setting in Windows?

Dell XPS 15 9560: missing drag lock for touchpad

System: Dell XPS 15 9560, WIndows 10 Home

When using the touchpad, I like to be able to perform multiple drag operations, without having to double-tap to invoke the drag operation each time I lift my finger. For the last 15+ years there has always been an option called "drag lock", that allows
the drag to operate as follows:

    • The drag operation is invoked by double-tapping on a draggable object
    • The object is moved by sliding one's finger
    • If one's finger is lifted, the drag operation will NOT terminate, and more drag operations are possible
    • The drag operation is terminated by another double-tap
I simply can't find an option for drag lock in the Windows 10 touchpad settings. Please PLEASE tell me there is some way to enable this feature!

Cross posted on the Dell forums: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Drag-lock-for-touchpad/m-p/6045630
