Windows 10: Laptop audio plays through microphone

I just got a brand new laptop, and whenever I use my microphone (discord call, camera app, etc.), the actual laptop audio plays through into the microphone. This continues to happen even if I mute the mic via the mute switch on my headset. I only have this problem when I plug in my headset through the audio jack port, and works fine when I use a usb mic, but I would still prefer to use the one audio jack. I've tried disabling the "Stereo Mix" device in sound settings, but the problem still persists. How can I fix this?

Microphone not detected

I've run it, it says the problem was 'Generic audio driver'. But I don't actually feel any problems on playing audios. My problem was about external microphones not detected, this laptop wont detect any external microphones
plugged in, it will always use the internal microphone. I've done the troubleshoot (recording audio) and the troubleshoot said they can't detect the problem.

 

Microphone issue

We suggest that you run the Audio troubleshooter.

• Type troubleshoot in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshoot.
• On the right pane, select Playing Audio.
• Click Run the troubleshooter.

Since you're using an external headset/microphone, we suggest using a different headset to test if the same issue will occur. You can also run the built-in troubleshooter for hardware and sound by following the steps below:

• In the Windows Search bar, type troubleshoot.
• Open the Control Panel app from the search result.
• Under Troubleshoot computer problems, click Hardware and Sound.
• Click Playing Audio to run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen guide
