Windows 10: Laptop battery capacity suddenly decreased

I own a 2-year-old HP Pavilion laptop.On the 25th, within 35 minutes, the battery suddenly dropped from 99% to 6%. Ever since then, not only doesn't the battery last more than an hour or two, the battery doesn't charge all the way to 100 but instead, in the 69-75% range.After I realized there's a problem, I went on several websites to try and find out what I could do to figure out the problem. I saw sources saying to do a battery report, so I did and found out that both design capacity and full charge capacity went down from 39917 mWh to 39420 mWh on the day this started to 36960 mWh right

Laptop battery capacity decreased 75% within 5 days without any usage?

My windows 10 laptop battery capacity was 40,263mWh on 25Dec2022 then it suddenly decreased to 19,437mWh. Now on 1st Jan 2023 it decreased to 10,742mWh. 40,263mWh to 10,742mwh. Where is fault?

 

Battery full charge capacity decreased?





As you can probably see from the above image, my battery's full charge capacity has been decreased. Even though I just bought this laptop like 3 months ago, the laptops full charge capacity has been decreased by a huge amount like 5000mWh. I don't know what is causing this I have three questions...

i) What causes a battery to lose its Full Charge Capacity?

ii) Can a full charge capacity be increased (reversed) by using it the right way again?

iii) How can I save my battery from losing it's full charge capacity? Will using it plugged into the charger help it not get decreased?

 

Laptop died suddenly - battery issue


Hi all,
Lately I've had my laptop plugged in a lot because I've been running some design analysis software thats required a long time to solve. Anyway my laptop suddenly just cut off today whilst on battery. Straight away I assumed it was the battery as I had a similar issue back in 2010 with my old device. I've had my current laptop for about 2 and a half years. I ran a battery report which came up with the following information:

• Cycle count: 489
• Design capacity: 48840
• Last full charge: 38373

So its obvious my battery isn't at full capacity as expected. However, could this be the cause of it randomly losing power? I'm thinking more of a calibration issue. Any ideas on how to calibrate?
