Windows 10: Laptop Battery dies when sleeping, but only every so often, sleep study has weird results.

I Have an ASUS ROG G513R,The problem is that sometimes when I come to use it it is completely flat, even if it was at 100% only a few hours earlier. other times it will stay near full charge for days.I have done a sleep study report as it seems to be sleeping that's causing problems, this showed fairly normal results, apart from 2 entries.It had 2 entries in purple "screen off" "video idle timeout" and then the next was the next day when i came to use it again, "abnormal shutdown" reason and battery state unknown,The bit i thought was stranger but might be nothing is the detailed session info,

As per the description provided, it looks like you are facing an issue with Power plan settings “Sleep mode” on Windows 10.

You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or hibernating—or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data loss if the battery dies.

First I suggest you to run the power troubleshooter and check if it helps:

Run the Power troubleshooter which is located under
Find and Fix Problems in the Control Panel. You can open Control Panel by typing in "control" in the
Run window which is opened by pressing the
Windows key and R key together.

If the issue persist.

Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a power-saving state:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click Control Panel.
• And then click on Power options.
• On the left pan select choose when to turn of the display.
• Under turn of the display select
  Never
• Under put the computer to sleep select Never

Malware and sleep study possible interaction

Thank you for posting your concern. Sleep Study is a Windows utility that only runs on systems that support InstantGo. You can determine if your hardware and software support InstantGo by entering
powercfg /a into a Command Prompt window, and then looking to see if
Standby (Connected)is included in the list of sleep states:



Running Sleep Study requires Admin rights, Windows 8.1 or newer system, InstantGo support. You can refer to this

Sleep Study not showing % of battery

Hello! Does anybody know why the powercfg sleep study does not display any of the % of battery?

Here's how it looks like:





The report was generated with powercfg /SleepStudy /output "C:\sleep_report.html".

I'm running a brand-new ThinkPad T14s / AMD Ryzen 7 and I am trying to figure out why the modern standby is consuming a lot of battery. Since the percentages are missing, I wonder if the rest of the sleep report is accurate.



It seems that the battery is properly detected by the system:





Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. Using S3 sleep instead of modern standby is not an option either, as the audio driver fails to initialize after waking up, so I need to figure out what's draining the battery during S0
