Windows 10: Laptop black screen and odd power and charger light behaviour.

My laptop has black screen and no fan running however the power light remained on. When I plugged in my laptop the charger light remained off. Presumably, my laptop is now dead as the power light is off and only turns on when I plug into the charger, notes despite this charger light is still off.. I have tried holding the power button down for hard shutdown and a forced reset to no avail. The power light when the laptop is charged or being charged will turn off eventually but will remain on the second I let it go. I have also tried blind BIOS reset, maybe I was doing wrong though. Tell us more about the issue. Answer the following:

• Does it mean that if you pull out the charger, you can get a regular screen?
• Can you describe the black screen? Is it like as if it doesn't have any power or is it booted but not showing anything at all?
• Have you checked if the laptop was just drained of its power?
• Have you tried leaving the laptop on charge? Were you able to turn it on?

Black Screen after update

Thank you for posting in Community, we understand your concern and we will try pour best to help you resolve the issue.

I would suggest that you perform the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to access the desktop.

Method 1:

Step 1: Perform Power Drain and check if you are able to access your desktop screen.

• Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
  
• Press and hold the Power button for 30sec.
• Plug the charger/power cord and restart system.

Step 2: If you can access the desktop check if your system is functioning as normal. Also check which update got installed in your system, by opening Control Panel and then opening Programs and Features.

Method 2: Inaccessible Desktop.

If you are unable to access the desktop screen and you are stuck on the
Black Screen, then I would suggest that you refer to the article

Computer Not Turning On. Charger Light Working.

HP Envy laptop.

My computer screen randomly went black, but the power button was still lit.

At the side of the keyboard, the charger light was on and white like normal but blinking.

I turned the computer on and off, now the power button doesn’t light up at all.

I took the battery out of the bottom, the side charger light stops blinking, but computer still won’t turn on.

Before this all occurred, the computer was only usable with the charger plugged in, and if the charger slipped out, the computer would die. This computer was windows 11 I believe.

So I tried using my other computer. Different brand and different charger. Apple laptop.

It wouldn’t turn on at all! This computer only charged with the charger plugged in, otherwise the battery would drain very quickly and die.

So I tried another HP envy laptop, same issue happened. It randomly went black after it said updating 100%, now it refuses to turn on at all. This computer isn’t windows 11.
