Windows 10: Laptop boots to black screen with cursor

I have an Alienware laptop running Windows 11. When I boot the laptop it briefly shows my wallpaper with no icons, then immediately goes to a black screen with just the cursor showing. For the brief moment it displays my wallpaper, I can see it’s larger than it normally is. I use AVG anti virus, and I do get the normal AVG pop- up window on the screen, but that is the only thing that shows up. I’ve tried all of the reboot options to get to “safe mode” and none of them work. I.e. F8, F4, hold down the shift key while powering on, holding down the power button to shut down twice to enter windows

I have tried following the steps of booting into safe mode, going into the control panel and uninstalling the latest windows update that caused the 'Windows black screen with cursor' error. However, now it wont even boot to the desktop, it will show 'Automatic repairs being done' and then automatically booting to safe mode. Upon checking my BIOS, the SSD drive with windows installed with it, is not even showing up in the boot list/priority. (still able to see drive in bios under System status and when checking under windows installation time.)

I am trying to figure out what is going on with my mom's laptop. Two days ago she told me she was using her laptop and everything was fine, but then she left to do some things in the kitchen and came back a bit later to the screen off. Upon waking it up by moving the mouse, all she got was a black screen with a white cursor. I have looked at it and upon manually restarting, it shows the Windows 10 logo, and then it goes to the black screen with the cursor. There is no login screen either but I do also hear the welcome music. One thing I noticed though is the cursor does have the blue loading circle next to it like it is actually still doing something, and it flashes and spins now and then, as well as the computer sounding like its working, but I have left this on for almost 40 minutes now and it is still just a black screen. It sometimes goes to the off screen and have to move the mouse to wake it up again. Some people online suggest task manager and opening up other windows but nothing works, I can just move a cursor.

My first thought is it is doing something with updates so I figured I will let it be for a few hours while in the mean time I will post this question to see if anyone else has any ideas. The laptop had Windows 7 before and we upgraded to 10 months ago.

So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?
