Windows 10: Laptop Boots to Grey and White Lines then to Windows. Why?

Problem: I have a an HP Envy 17 laptop. When it boots it shows gray and white lines for about 2 minutes. Then Windows 11 Pro starts and it works normally. There are two graphics cards in the laptop. If the laptop lid is closed for several minutes and then opened, the gray and white bars appear. The laptop then needs to be restarted.Investigation: The laptop has an Intel Graphics 620 and an Nvidia MX250. I have tried disabling one at a time to see if either card has issues from within Windows 11. Both graphic cards work fine when it is the only enabled card and when both cards are enabled. I

Let me help you with this issue.

I understand you are seeing white lines upon booting up your laptop.

Can you boot to the BIOS and check if you see the white lines from there?

This is an indication of a hardware failure.

It is either your LCD or your Video card is failing.

If you can connect an external monitor and the lines transfer there, it is the video card that has failed, if it didn't transfer, it means that it is the LCD.

Is your laptop still under warranty?

I suggest getting your laptop checked by a professional hardware technician or contacting ASUS warranty support service if it is still under warranty.

 

Horizontal grey lines on display

Hi

There's are strange grey lines appearing on a computer when it is connected to a terminal server. The display on the right is from an external monitor, the one on the left ist from the Laptop. When the external display gets turned off, the lines appear on the Laptop's display. However, when the user starts Word directly on the Laptop, there are no lines.

When connections are initiated from other computers or other users, there is no display issue either. Also the lines cannot be seen from another computer via isl light client (remote-support tool).





What irritates me most is the fact that the lines are not completely from left to right but are all intterupted on the white background regardless of the window border or the page layout from the shown Word document. Also that the picture is a screenshot and didn't need to be done with a camera to see the lines is strange after they didn't show up during remote support.

Any suggestions concerning the most probable cause - graphics card failure, driver issue or something else?

Screen showing grey lines

Screen on my laptop suddenly showing grey lines across the screen for a few seconds in Firefox browser and sometimes in mail. This is something new and suggestions? I run Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron.
