Windows 10: Laptop Brightness Controls Not Working After Windows 10 Update

Recently my Acer Aspire E 15 laptop did a windows update automatically after I had put it off too long. Afterwards, I found I could no longer control the brightness/dimness of the display with the keys. Normally, it works by holding down Fn and then I am able to use all my blue keys. Every blue key works except the bright and dim keys. The keys themselves are not broken, because I can still tab when not holding in Fn. I've tried using Windows help pages and looking into my settings, and I have run into many dead ends. The only thing I think might have messed it up is that I was installing a program called Logger Pro when the update kicked in, and I may have been trying to use the bright/dim keys at that time. Anyways, I really enjoy this capability and would like any help/suggestions on how to fix it.

On my Dell 5559 Windows 10 , brightness not working.

Have tried few steps from youtube videos but did not work.

Brightness Control not working in Windows 10

To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.

Can not control the laptop brightness

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

What happens when you try to change the screen's brightness?

For a majority of laptops, there isn't a control for setting the contrast. However, you can set the brightness of many laptops by pressing and holding the Fn key, and then pressing a function key to decrease brightness
or increase brightness.

I suggest you to uninstall the display driver from your computer and then install in Compatibility mode.

To uninstall the driver follow the steps given below.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Search for Display Adapter
  and expand it.
  
• 
  Right click on the Display Adapter
  and select Uninstall.
  
• 
  Do not restart your computer.
  

Once you have successfully uninstalled the driver, please install the driver in compatibility mode following the steps given below.
