Windows 10: laptop cannot connect to home network

I have a dell laptop wirelessly connected to the internet, I have a PC on ethernet to the internet, a cable modem and a wireless router. Both are up to date W10 pro.I can see the PC from the laptop, but when I try to login, I face the following problems:1. the email is grayed out and is not accessible.2. the email is wrong, it's long abandoned - where does this come from,, anyway?3. I haven't a clue what the password might be. or where my old, old email came from.4. the steps I see on the internet to correct login errors do not apply here, as they all show an input box for name, mine doesn't!5

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.
