Windows 10: Laptop cannot detect my wifi connection, but the router working just fine on other devices

I dont think its wifi problem and I have tried few solutions that I found online. I'm using ASUS X456URK. The most important part is my wifi not even available in the connection. Most ofthe solutions was for connected wifi but doesnt have connection. Mine was not even connected or detected by my laptop at the first place. The WLAN button on my router was just on and working. Hope I can find the answer as I am a student who is using laptop intensively right now

My Laptop connect to college wifi named-"ion@block15"

My router (netgear n300) connects to the laptop via a lan cable

My phone(and other devices) connect to the router via wifi and use internet connection via laptop

This Is my IDEAL case.

Currently I have selected allow other network devices to connect through this network's connection under the sharing option in wifi.

But the router is always showing as unidentified network. I tried changing location to private via homegroup troubleshooter no luck.

I cant even access router setting on lan. I have to connect to router via wifi to change settings.

**The router works fine. If done the same with a modem instead of a laptop.

And please do check that is the connection problem is occurring with that specific WiFi router or with others too? Try to connect using different router, and if you don't have a router try connecting it to WiFi hotspot and test it.
I had that problem when my old-router stopped working I replaced it with new one and in a day my laptop HP-450 was unable to connect to it whereas all other devices were connected. At first I had the same feeling that my laptop was not working and tried every thing but nothing worked. Then I tried connecting to my WiFi hotspot and it worked even in long range. Then I called Dlink and got it replaced. With the new router I had no problems.
Also do check the number of devices connected.

 

Wifi not stable or connecting to devices

Hi all,

Sorry, a newbie here looking for some advice on a long-standing WiFi issue that I need to finally tackle! This looks a good, busy forum, so hoping this is the place to resolve things!

We have Sky Broadband and when using wired connections from the router, everything is fine. Good speeds, next to no downtime, no problems. However, the WiFi has never been good.

While the laptop may connect occasionally, newer devices such as tablets, iphones, kindle, etc just do not. As the router was very old, I upgraded last month to the latest Sky Broadband Hub thinking this would do the trick.

This has not helped at all, and on the few occasions we get the kindle to connect, the signal is poor and it takes hours (literally) to download a single app.

I have tried using different channels (no neighboring channels as at the back of a cul-de-sac with elderly neighbors!) and also using each of the security settings types. When we had the old router (netgear), turning all security off would sometimes do the trick, but that doesn't even work with the new Hub.

To further confuse me, a few months back I extended the network to the shed by running an ethernet cable from the main router to another router I bought off ebay. This all works perfectly, including outstanding wifi when in the garden from this router.

Have I just been unlucky with two dodgy routers in the house, or is there a more technical explanation? Any help much appreciated!
