Windows 10: Laptop charged past battery limit of 80%

Hello, so I have an Acer Predator Helios 300, and I have the battery limit option, which keeps the battery at 80%, and it's been fine for a few months now. However, I was checking my laptop right now, and I saw it was at 81%; how is that possible? And is this a problem or not?

Yes, if you have the option to limit you battery charge limit to 80% and you do use your laptop plugged in most of the time then that setting will prolong the lifespan of your battery.

Also, at least once a month, run your laptop on battery power until it completely runs out of power and then charge the laptop up again, this will help to keep the battery correctly calibrated in Windows.

I have a gaming laptop. I just changed the battery. I usually have it plugged in while gaming(which is most of the time). Some suggested limiting Battery Charging. There is an option to limit it in BIOS in my HP Pavilion Laptop. Is it worth it? Does it extend battery life (if prolonged plugged in use)?

That practice is currently popular, and it's based on fact. It has been demonstrated that a battery can last longer if it isn't charged to 100% (and if it isn't allowed to go to 0%.) My Samsung Galaxy phone recently received an update that, among other things, limits a full charge to 85%. And in the user forums, Samsung representatives are recommending that we not let the charge fall below 15%, and some think 20% is even better.
