Windows 10: Laptop continues to crash. Screen is black with light up boxes.

Out of nowhere, my computer screen turned black and these boxes came up. It has happened three times in the past two days. I restart the computer and then it works good for a little bit but continues to crash. I found another user with the same issue on microsoft support and followed the advice that the HP tech support gave, however, now my computer still continues to crash like the photo and it also continues to do BIOS updates. Need help asap. I am a college student and a lot of my classes have online quizzes and exams. I can't afford to have my laptop continually glitch out and restart out

Cheap Photo box that will get the job done

WEll i took on this project for PP hes a hardware reviewer and wants to get the professional looking pics for the Pc parts

Materials:

• Big cardboard box

• a razor

• white material 3 yards

• cone lights

• stapler

• medical tape

• pvc pipe about 6 inches longer than your box

• white paint any cheap finger paint would work

the project I'm guessing will cost me $30 if it works out properly
I will post pictures and step by step as i do it

 

ASUS q553u laptop with black display screen

I understand the primary purpose of this forum is to discuss issues pertaining to Windows but I saw a question similar to mine posted here so I thought I would ask.

First some history. A few weeks ago I took some cardboard, paper, bottles, and cans to our local recycling center. While I was there I picked up some of the litter and threw it into the bins. I picked up a computer box propped up against one of the bins and was surprised to find an ASUS q553u laptop in the box. I took it home and plugged it in. The Cap Lock button lights up and I can hear the fan running but the screen stayed black. I googled how to fix a black screen and tried some of the suggestions but nothing worked. I googled how to disassemble the computer and now have it mostly disassembled. The previous owner did remove the hard drive so apparently he/she left the computer for someone to repair or for parts. I'm using it to hopefully learn a bit about repairing a computer, and if not repairing it, at least what a laptop computer looks like under the bottom case.

I read that either the CMOS battery or the graphics processing unit could cause a black screen or possible the back light in the screen could have burned out.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

The laptop is an ASUS q553u.
It has Intel Core I7.
Presumably Windows 10 but I don't know, nor do I know any other details about the computer.
