1. Laptop corrupting after unplugging from power

Frequently, after unplugging my laptop, it makes a loud buzzing sound and then proceeds to work - except with files corrupted fixed with sfc /scannow. This causes weird and colourful display blackouts and occasionally crashes. It also breaks my network adapter, after which I have to perform a Winsock catalog reset to fix. Any clues as to where this could be coming from?Laptop Model: Acer Swift 5Minitoolbox logs most recent to least recentACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region 0x4, Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.ACPI BIOS is attempt

  4. Laptop corrupting after unplugging from power

Screen turns off when you unplug the laptop from AC power

When I unplug my awake (not sleeping) laptop from AC power, very often it immediately turns off the screen or even falls asleep.

I think I have found the root cause of this. My power options are the following:

When plugged inOn battery

Turn off screen after10 mins2 mins

Go to sleep after20 mins5 mins

I started an online stopwatch, and didn't move the mouse afterwards. At 1 min I have unplugged the laptop from AC power. At 2 mins the screen went off. Therefore I determined, that unplugging the power cord is not considered a user action. So when the laptop is idle for 2-5 mins when I unplug it, the screen immediately goes off, and if it is idle for 5-10 mins, it immediately goes to sleep.

I think, unplugging should be taken as a user action, i.e. the idle timer should restart when you unplug the laptop.

    • Can you tell Microsoft to fix this?
    • Do you have a workaround?
