Windows 10: Laptop crashing after Sep 12 critical Windows 10 update

Hello,


My Lenovo Yoga 900S receive an automatic critical update (Windows 10, 64 bit) on Sep 12 in the middle of the day. Since then it has been randomly crashing with a blue screen. Most of the time, it boots up correctly but then crashes -- sometimes within a minute, sometimes within an hour and sometimes within 4 or 5 hours. The general symptom is that the computer will freeze, and then a few seconds later, a blue screen will appear.


I have tried to restore it to a point prior to Sep 12. The restore failed.


There have been a total of 4 updates between Sep 12 and 13: KB4457128, KB4457146, KB 4456655, KB4457128 (again on Sep 13).

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Laptop no longer hibernates on critical power

Hi Mike,

The laptop's battery is possibly wearing out. Since you haven't change any settings, we suggest that you change the critical battery level a bit higher so that your laptop can perform a hibernation on a much higher percentage than the default. Follow the
steps below:

• Type Power Options on the Start menu search bar.
• Under Battery, click on Critical battery level.
• Chang the default percentage to 10% or higher.
• Click on Apply.
