Windows 10: Laptop crashing and shutting down when put in sleep mode

The problem appears to be WAN Miniport (SSTP) (\Driver\RasSstp).

Success! (mostly). I do use VPN software (FortiClient) on this notebook. After uninstalling FortiClient the laptop properly entered sleep mode. This isn't a great solution, obviously, so I googled a bit and found a poster with a similar issue:

The last post provided the solution, which is to disable the WAN Miniport (SSTP) device driver. There was no obvious problem with the driver in Device Manager, and uninstalling the driver and letting Windows re-install it didn't fix the problem. I'm not sure why a Microsoft device driver would prevent the computer from entering sleep mode, but disabling it doesn't interfere with the VPN.

Great find. I wonder if WAN Miniport (SSTP) is the cause of some other sleep problems I've seen? I'll keep it in mind for the future.
