Windows 10: Laptop detects Headset, but not microphone

Hello,I have the issue that when I connect my external headset through a cable to my laptop, the laptop doesn't see the microphone. It does see and play sounds through the headset, but whenever I try to switch to the headset's microphone, I can't because it says that it is not connected.I have tried the headset on other devices and the microphone works there.I have reinstalled my drivers and resterted my laptop, but that didn't solve the problem.Can somebody help me?Thanks in advance.

I want to use the microphone attached to the headset as I just bought the headset but my laptop is still using the built-in mic and the headset mic is not detected.

Recently, I bought a headset with a microphone attached for use when chatting with friends, the headphones are detected by my laptop and work perfectly fine however, the microphone doesn't work and isn't detected at all, i have followed all the steps I could find to try correcting this including checking microphone permissions, checking the device manager which does show the headset as an audio input and output, and also tried using the audio input troubleshooter which, when the headset is plugged in and mic is folded down to unmute it, thinks there's just nothing plugged into the audio jack as well. I even bought a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor (which as far as I know has a DAC in it) to try and bypass the built-in audio jack but that also isn't detected. The laptop being used is a Dell G15 5511 with a HyperX Cloud Stinger headset.

I recently bought a new headset with a microphone and I can hear audio through the headset but
my mic is not detected and it is still using my default Realtek computer microphone.

I've tried looking for hidden microphones but there are none.
I've re-installed my Realtek HD Audio driver.

But nothing seems to work.

What should I do to fix this?
