Windows 10: laptop display at lowest brightness after unplugging display

really simple, but at the same time weird thing: i normally use my laptop with a 2nd display plugged in, and in "use 2nd display" mode. but whenever the display turns on while the pc is running, or its simply disconnected, the laptop's internal display is at the lowest brightness, even thought Windows reports it as highest. the only way to get it to correct itself was to lower the brightness, then make it higher again. is that something Windows 11 does?

Step 1: I suggest you to update the Display drivers and check
if it helps you.

Refer: Uninstall, Reinstall or
update the graphics card drivers

If that doesn't help uninstall and reinstall latest graphic driver from manufacturer's website.

Note: Update all the drivers and also install all the pending updates and check.

Step 2: After installing and Updating refer the below steps to check how to automatically adjust the brightness.

• Press Windows + I keys and select System.
• Select Display and check the Adjust brightness automatically
• Restart the machine.
