Windows 10: Laptop display dims when using applications on my monitor

Hi, Just recently my laptop screen has been dimming when ive been opening and running anything on my monitor display. the type of dimming where an application is being prioritized and the background is dark. To bring the brightness back to normal I either have to be using it or clicking on "show desktop" seems to work as if there is an application being prioritized that I dont know about. Ive tried seeing if there was an application running in task manager that i could stop but there was nothing to find there. Ive tried restarting my laptop to no success. Adaptive brightness doesnt seem to be

Laptop display dim, but only on battery

After upgrade to W10 from 8.1, Laptop display is dim, but only when I boot up on battery power. Samsung NP470R5E with Intel HD Graphics 4000

When plugged in, the display has normal brightness.

If I disconnect the power it stays bright.

If I shutdown and restart on battery, the display is dim and cannot be brightened with the function keys.

When I go into settings, all display indicators falsely report 100% brightness.

If I connect mains power after starting on battery, the display remains dim.

All display and monitor drivers have been reviewed and are up to date.

All monitor and display drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled.

All battery power saving setting have been reviewed. Everything reset to maximum performance.

All display and monitor settings have been reviewed, including advanced settings, and set to maximum performance/100% brightness, etc.

Multiple other combinations of settings tested for battery and display.

sfc/scannow did not find any "integrity violations"

Display remained dim after restart on battery in all tested combinations of settings

There's a possibility that this issue is due to the Display settings of your device. For us to isolate your concern, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Is it only happening when you connect your device to Windows 10?
• If it's not connected, have you noticed certain activities wherein the screen dims automatically?
• Have you tried using a different HDMI cable?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Screen Dim Issue

Thank you for updating on the status.

I would like to ask if you are using a desktop or a laptop. The steps provided by Likhitha was for laptop.

If you are using a desktop, follow the steps below.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Display.
• In the right pane, click on Advanced Display Settings.
• Click on Color Calibration under Related Settings.
• Provide password (if any) for the UAC prompt and click on OK.
• Click on next and follow the on screen prompts to adjust the brightness and contrast.

If the issue still persists, suggest you to change the display settings of the monitor using the option keys provided in the monitor.
