  1. Laptop doesn't boot properly in UEFI mode

Hello, I keep getting the error that the boot device is not found. It sort of comes and goes and if I restart the laptop a few times it sometimes goes away. I scanned an repaired the disk and it still happens and ran all possible hardware tests and nothing was found. Changing boot settings to legacy made it go away now but I'm not sure if that is a long term solution as windows came pre-installed and from what I understand it shouldn't be able to boot in legacy mode if it's installed in UEFI mode.

    :)

    UEFI vs Legacy boot mode

I just found out I'm running at "Legacy" boot mode.
Are there any downsides running my Skylake system in "Legacy" boot mode?

I don't really want to reinstall windows.
Also I have no problems with my SSD, speeds are as they should be.

Just booting up my system takes some time, maybe it just would be faster booting with UEFI?
My Asus Gaming laptop is booting up faster.
If thats the main difference *Oh Well Laptop doesn't boot properly in UEFI mode :eek:hwell:

    UEFI vs Legacy boot mode

Yep, UEFI mode with Win 10 loading I get the Asus logo.

IIRC there maybe an option within motherboard UEFI to disable the Asus logo but not looked into it. On another forum I have read that what logo you get at Win 10 loading is the easiest way to know what bios mode OS is in.

If system is booting in legacy mode - you get Windows Logo.
If system is booting in UEFI mode - you get OEM logo.

Above also applies to Win 8 but not Win 7.

Laptop doesn't boot properly in UEFI mode

Windows 10 installation from DVD in UEFI BIOS mode

You can`t have both enabled at the same time.

If you try UEFI, boot from the dvd drive, there should be 2 listings, your normal dvd and your UEFI dvd, just choose UEFI dvd.

If the disc doesn`t show up for either choice then you have a bad disc.
