Windows 10: Laptop dropping connection while WiFi network is up and running.

Hi there. I have a 2-year-old HP Envy laptop running Windows 11. Lately it drops internet connection for a minute or so every few minutes, but only when I try to navigate to a new page. The wifi network is up the whole time because my other devices stay connected, so the problem is in the laptop and not the network. Here's what I've done to try to fix the problem:1. Ran DISM and sfc /scannow. Corrupted files were found and repaired.2. Ensured all Windows updates are downloaded and installed3. Ran Windows Defender full scan4. Ran disk cleanup5. Entered Device Manager and looked at Network adapt

Laptop WiFi connection drops when on battery power

After installing Windows 10 update KB4467702 a few months ago I noticed my laptop's WiFi connection kept dropping: I'd get the "No Internet Connection" message eventhough other devices on the same network were fine. After trying countless fixes, I discovered this Microsoft Support page which specifically mentions WiFi connectivity issues due to Windows Power Management. Sure enough, it seems that my WiFi issues only arise when my laptop is on battery, connecting it to a power source magically fixes everything.

I've changed all the settings I know to maximize performance over energy saving but the WiFi issues still arise when my laptop is on battery power. Here are the settings that I know of:

Device Manager: selecting my network adapter and removing the tick next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"





Control Panel: creating a custom power plan and making sure the power saving mode for "on battery" is set to "Maximum Performance"





I even disabled the USB selective suspend setting on battery because I use a USB wireless adapter





These are all the network-related power options that I can think of but my WiFi still drops when my laptop is on battery. What setting did I miss? One of the running services maybe?

Open Settings, then Network & Internet, then Network and Sharing Center. Your WiFi connection will be shown under Active Networks. Click on the "link" for your WiFi connection. What speed is listed under Connection?

 

WiFi connection dropping and not detecting networks

I am currently facing the next issue in several laptops with Windows 10 and was wondering if anybody could guide me in how to solve it.

Randomly the WiFi connection drops and when you try to manually connect again, no WiFi networks appear available. (I am sure they are up because a laptop just beside this one can see it with no problem)

All laptos are Lenovo.

So far I have tried the following:

• Updating the WiFi adapter drivers to the newest version.
  
• Updating the bios.
  
• Modifying the energy setting for the laptop and the WiFi adapter so they never go to sleep mode.
  

What I also have discover is that if you restart Windows 10 WLAN service, the WiFi networks show up again.

My question is: How could I find out what is causing this issue?
