    Laptop eating my wifi by the GB


    I recently got a new laptop. And for some reason, its just burning my internet data. I'm on a capped network, so its vital that I lower the usage as much as possible. As a test, I left it on idle for 15 min (started on 0 mb) and when I came back a whopping 18 GB was used. Funny thing is, whenever I restart my computer it goes back down to 0 mb. Wtf is going on? I've already turned off onedrive, set the limit to 100 gb, what am I missing? Task manager doesnt show any app using internet. I'm going crazy. If anyone can help me, I will be very greatful. Additional info: laptop has McAfee pre installed, as well as Express VPN, and omen control center (laptop is hp omen 15 2020).

    Window 10 eating my Wifi bandwidth

    Whenever I start my laptop and check 'data usage' after couple of minutes, I found 'system' is using my internet bandwidth in size of hundreds MBs.

    I urgently need to get rid of this.

    I tried many tricks:

    • Set wifi on metered connection
    • Disable Windows Update service
    • Disable scheduled task regarding Windows 10 update assistance and some others
    • Set all background app to OFF.
    Still windows 10 constantly eating my bandwidth.

    How to stop this unacceptable behaviour?

    My laptop is eating data as I connect to internet what should I have to do. I have only 1.5 gb gb day via WiFi.. after that my internet speed is slow

    What should i have to do to stop it from consuming data..

    my son laptiop wifi disconnect after 5 minutes

    • If you have an identical laptop try comparing the wifi and security settings of the one that does not disconnect with the one that does. If you find any differences change the settings of the one that does not work to the one that does.
