    Laptop freezes upon using Excel unless it's plugged in. What could be the reason?


    Hi everyone! I had this laptop for a few years without any serious issues, but a month ago I needed to send it in for repair due to a problem with the bios chip and motherboard. Ever since I got it back it would randomly freeze up when I open up Excel, even with a new document. However, that does not happen if I stay plugged in. I'm wondering what could be the issue as it hasn't happened prior to the repair. Any ideas?

    To identify the reason why your device is not working unless an adapter is plugged in. We'd like to know the following:

    • Prior the update, we're you able to use your device without having it plugged in?
    • How many batteries are you referring to?

    Laptop won't start unless plugged in.

    I recently had the battery on my laptop (a Lenovo T14s Thinkpad) replaced, and have had problems with getting it to start. When I turn it on, it shuts itself off a few seconds into the startup screen unless it is connected to a charger. After startup it can run off battery power just fine.

    Things I have already tried:

    • Disabling Fast Startup
    • Reinstalling the battery driver
    • Using powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0 to prevent the computer from shutting down because it couldn't communicate with the battery.
