Hello! I own a CLEVO N850 laptop that's an i7 7700hq, 32gb ram and a gtx 1050ti running windows 10, that's freezing with unresponsive mouse and keyboard, audio locked to a loop of the last thing that was playing, and the only way to come out of it is by restarting the pc tried leaving it on for an hour and it hadn't unlocked.

Although I can't tie this behaviour to any particular activity it seems to happen randomly, I did notice that everytime it happens there's this log in the event viewer it's in spanish:

Note how it's resetting to the very same power plan.

It might be important to add at this point that I have been doing some tweaking to the power settings of this computer: I used msconfig to park one of the cpu cores that means I'm running on 7 logical cores instead of 8, and used ThrottleStop to undervolt my cpu, cpu cache and igpu in order to be able to mantain decent temps while doing computer graphics work, since the cooling on this particular model seems to be very bad. This tweaking has made the problem noticeably worse in terms of freeze frequency, but at the same time it's the only way I can get my computer to not overheat, so it would be great to find a way to mantain this changes while eliminating the freezing issue.

Also, Clevo laptops have a pre-installed program called Control Center for managing power setting presets.

Is there a fix for this? Could powercfg.exe be prevented from resetting the directives somehow? Thanks in advance. Francisco.

    :)

    Complete Freeze - Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task 63

    Managed to solve this.

Seems like I had a couple issues. The power supply was on the fritz and C-States needed to be turned off in the bios.

I went through all the steps listed on this thread by @mileskb
    Windows 10 freezes randomly

I did change some of the power management settings in windows, but I had tried that before without results. It might have been a combination of C-States and power management.

Power Settings Ignored by Lenovo Yoga 400 laptop

    • Did you make any changes to your computer? I dont know.. what kind of changes are you talking about. I only added software.. like Norton Security and a few free MSFT apps.
    • Which Build are you currently in? I dont know..probably the latest one. How do i determine "the build"?? I always update windows and pretty sure this is up to date here.
    • Which troubleshooting steps did you try? Tried everything that was suggested,..power troubleshooter, update graphics card, set power settings to default, and other things.. nothing worked. Has been a problem for many months.
How do i do this clean boot? I will need instructions for these things..step by step. i am tired of this machine ignoring the power settings. Need this fixed.
