Windows 10: laptop goes to sleep after two minutes of inactivity although it is set to 30 minutes

I have a new HP 450 laptop running Windows 10 Pro, updated to version 1903. The "turn off display" is set to 30 minutes (20 minutes on battery). The "sleep setting" is also 30 and 20 minutes.


After turning the laptop on and using it for a period of time, then letting it sit idle, the display correctly turns off after about 30 minutes. However, once re-activated, then letting it sit idle again, the display turns off after two minutes. This two-minute cycle continually repeats unless the laptop is actually shut down and restarted.


I cannot find any other setting that would control this and cause the display to turn off after 2 minutes.

Ever since upgrading to Windows 10, my surface pro appears to go to sleep after 2 to 3 minutes of inactivity. This happens on both battery and wired power. The screen goes dark, stays dark for a few seconds and then the lockscreen appears. Settings are
set to turn off the display after 5 minutes on battery, 30 minutes on power. Sleep settings are 30 minutes for both battery and power. This issue does not appear on a desktop running Windows 10. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks.

Hi, my laptop keeps going to sleep mode after only 2 minutes of inactivity when connected to an external monitor. I have Windows 10 Home, and in my power and sleep settings all of the turn off times are set to 30 minutes, same as in the advanced power
settings. Also, it makes no difference if I have Multiple Displays on 'extend' or 'duplicate', or if I'm showing only on my external monitor. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, as this is beyond annoying. Thank you!
