    laptop has black screen and won't power off.


    When I opened my laptop, the screen wouldn't turn on, but the power button was blinking. I tried to turn off the laptop by holding down the power button, but it wouldn't power off. I have a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14ALG7.

    Hi Andree,

    Hardware and software conflict is one of the possible reasons why you're experiencing black screen. Sometimes, it is also because of hardware failure. To get this issue fixed, we suggest that you
    boot into Safe Mode by following these steps:

    • Turn off your computer 3 times while booting. Windows should automatically boot to the Recovery Environment after 3 unsuccessful attempts in a row.
    • Once you are within the Recovery Environment, select Troubleshoot, and then
      Advanced options, then Startup Settings, and
      Restart      . When it restarts, you should see a number of options. Press 5 or F5 for
      Safe Mode with Networking.
    Once your computer is in Safe Mode, please follow the workaround provided on this
    link. Simply select the similar case that you're experiencing to show the troubleshooting steps.

    I would like to note that step 20 comes up with no files. Perhaps this could be the source of the issues?

    Laptop went black and won;t reboot

    Microsoft installed updates to Windows 10 on my laptop and all was working great - for 1 day. I was working in Excel and the screen all of a sudden went Black, a "white light line" went across the screen and when it got to the end it said "Boot" and the
    screen went Black again. I know it was still running since the Power On button was glowing and I could hear it. I let it sit about 15 mins and powered it off by hitting the power button. I powered on and it starts to run and then dies - always the same - Only
    Black screen, No Boot, Power Button Glowing, PC Running, Black Screen. Please tell me what if anything I can do to get it running and/or that will be able to recover my files or clone my hard drive and recover my stuff.
