laptop keeps crashing and/or BSOD, never any dump file created and only thing reliability...

Hi there - I have crashes and BSOD which started about a month ago after a year of operation without any problems whatsover - so it must be an windows update of some sort which is causing this...? From searching around I am not the only one experiencing this

Basically the laptop crashes at least once a day. the reliability monitor says the issue is because 'Window was not properly shut down' - and then i look into the tech report and it says the 'previous system shutdown was unexpected' showing a time when I was on the computer working i.e. there was no previous system shutdown.

This feels crazy -- I have switched off fast start as others seem to advise, plus I think i have done everything the internet advises with this issue - the only thing i haven't done is a full clean reinstallation of windows... What is the cause of this - it's so infuriating that windows can't actually say what is the problem... would be grateful if anyone has a solution ! many thanks

    :)

  2. Driver verifier not creating dump file

I'm getting frequent BSOD. I started the driver verifier as suggested.

At first, windows stuck at the boot loop, It didn't even show any BSOD. It just kept booting and turning off again and again. It didn't go past motherboard logo.

After some changes in the verifier, It was able to show windows logo but crashed before fully booting to "Driver verifier detected violation"

And it didn't even create any dump file. (All dump file setting are correct one ) As it is known that a driver is causing BSOD. How to know which one?

BSOD Help (also crashes without BSODs and dump files)

The rebooting issue I am suffering does not generate a blue screen or dump files. After doing some research, it was recommended that I try running Windows' driver reviewer to stress the drivers and potentially generate BSODs to gain some insight into what could be causing the aforementioned reboots. Once I began running reviewer, that is when I was able to create blue screens and the dump files that I attached to this post. Hopefully, they are pointing me in the right direction; however, I am a bit skeptical. Since I cannot seem to cause a reboot using cpu, ram, or gpu stress tests, I find it very difficult to pinpoint whether my problem is with hardware or software. I hope your suggestion to uninstall Panda fixes the problem, but only time will tell.

Want to figure out BSOD, but there is no dump file or entry in system log file

I recently got a Blue Screen of Death on my Windows 10 laptop. I took a photo of the QR code, but it took me to a generic and useless Microsoft web page. My QR code app only keeps a history of the links, not the photos, so I do not remember what the stop code was.

I want to know why this BSOD occurred and if it might be a hardware or software problem. Here is how I have the crash handling configured:

laptop keeps crashing and/or BSOD, never any dump file created and only thing reliability... N5kw2.png

As you can see, the "Write an event to the system log" box is checked, and a dump file named C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP should be created.

However, when I looked at the System log in Event Viewer, I didn't see anything that seemed related to the BSOD around the time of the crash. I read that there should be an entry from Source "BugCheck" for a BSOD, so I tried to filter the events with "Event sources"=BugCheck, but nothing was found.

There is also no file under C:\WINDOWS named MEMORY.DMP.

Why did Windows 10 not put an entry in the system log for the BSOD, and why didn't it create a dump file? How else might I be able to determine what the bugcheck code was, and what caused it?

    EDIT: Additional information:

    • There is over 300 GB of free disk space on the C drive, so a lack of space is not the reason why the dump file wasn't created.
