  2. Laptop ( Lenovo Yoga Slim Pro W11 ) keeps waking up from sleep

    Hi,

When I put the laptop to sleep with a power button it is only question of time ( and not much of it ) before it wakes up.

Powercfg as well as event log reports it was triggered by power button

    `Wake History Count - 1

    Wake History [0]

    Wake Source Count - 1

    Wake Source [0]

    Type: Fixed Feature

    Power Button`

`The system has returned from a low power state.

    Sleep Time: ‎2023‎-‎01‎-‎12T15:12:45.837250400Z

    Wake Time: ‎2023‎-‎01‎-‎12T15:14:29.099262000Z

    Wake Source: Power Button`

    Which is not ture.

The suspicious record regarding time synchro keeps showing up in the log ( I've already disabled the internet synchronization )

`The system time has changed to ‎2023‎-‎01‎-‎12T14:58:07.500000000Z from ‎2023‎-‎01‎-‎12T14:58:05.214180000Z.

    Time Delta: 2285 ms

Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock.

    Process: '' (PID 4).

    RTC time: ‎2023‎-‎01‎-‎12T15:58:07.500000000Z

    Current time zone bias: -60

RTC time is in UTC: false

System time was based on RTC time: false`

Any suggestions what may cause this?

  3. Wake Source Unknown: Wake Timer Settings?

I’m having an issue whereby after putting my PC to sleep it always wakes up after only 10-20 seconds. Within the Event Viewer the wake source is listed as unknown. Interestingly, when I put the PC back to sleep a second time it remains sound asleep until I actively wake it.

I have disabled all devices from being allowed to wake my computer except for my eHome Infrared receiver (UBSCIR). I have removed all unnecessary peripherals (external storage, headphones, etc.). I have no Windows updates pending.

I started to diagnose the problem by resetting my power plan back to its default settings. I then disabled wake timers and this fixed the problem, albeit only temporarily. If I restart my PC it goes back to waking up after only a few seconds even though the wake timer settings remain listed as disabled.

I’d rather not have to reset my power plan to its default settings every time I restart my PC. If anyone has any ideas as to what may be going on or how to go about trying to diagnose the cause of the issue I’m all ears because I haven’t found anyone else online experiencing this specific issue.

How to tell what wake source is when Wake Source: Unknown

I think I finally found out how to tell what the wake source is in this scenario:

This shows the "Reboot" task under UpdateOrchestrator which I believe might have been causing the problem.

Instructions on how to disable it are found in Step 2 of this fantastic answer: https://superuser.com/a/973029/226996

I'll report back if I'm finding the computer is still waking and I can't determine the source with this method...
