Windows 10: Laptop lid missing and need another way to get WIFI signal...any help?

My laptop lid completely broke off and I am using an external monitor, but now my WIFI barely works. Is there a way to install an external antenna or some other WIFI option to get good signal? I have an HP17 and running Windows 10. Thanks.

Laptop with window stopped detecting wifi signals.

I have Dell studio laptop with window 7 system. Till recent every thing was working fine. After logging in hot spot signal of my mobile was detected but very low signal (single bar) where as another laptop, placed just by side was shoeing full signal
bars. After some time it stopped showing any signal. It is showing "not connected no signal no connections are available." It seems that some wire might have got disconnected or broken. How to check connecting wires for inbuilt wifi detector? The lid (display
unit ) is broken at left hing point. Display is working fine.

 

Surface Book with Windows 10 - Wifi disconnects when lid is closed

I have the i7 Surface Book (8GB/256GB), and have this same problem.

WiFi is set to stay on during sleep, and the Surface Book is set to stay on when the lid is closed and running on mains power.

I have a strong signal and am 4 metres from my router. Once the lid is closed, first the WiFi says there is no internet connectivity and then after another few seconds it disconnects entirely.

On the network list the signal is still full, however it asks me for my password and never connects while the lid is closed.

Open the lid again, and it reconnects and everything is fine. For now it sits open on my desk, but I bought this to use as a desktop most of the time and this is not how it should be functioning.

I would appreciate some help with this. It happens every time I try this, and is souring an otherwise great user experience.

• Have you connected the external monitor to the Laptop?
• Did you make any recent changes prior to the issue?
• Are you facing this issue specifically when playing the specific Game?
• Are you facing this issue after any recent updates installed?

This issue might have caused due to the power settings for the closing of LID is set to sleep mode.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + X keys and select the Control Panel.
• Select Power options by searching in search box.
• Right side select Change Plan setting next to the power plans.
• Select the Change advanced Power plan settings.
• Under the list select and expand Power buttons and lid.
• Select Turn off the display under the drop down of setting.
• Click Apply. Ok.
• Close the LID and Check if the issue resolves.
